Three Ordained To Diaconate May 28 Saturday, May 28, 2016

Three men were ordained to the diaconate on Saturday, May 28 by Most Rev. Edward C. Malesic, Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg, at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. One is a monk from Saint Vincent Archabbey and the other two are seminarians from the Archdiocese of Beijing, China.

Brother Canice (Daniel) McMullen, O.S.B., is the son of Craig and Ruth McMullen of State College. He is a 2006 graduate of State College Area High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 2010. He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in 2010 and made simple profession of vows in 2011. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2011.

The two Chinese seminarians are Peter (Panji) Ren, the son of Xiao Ni Ren and Fengmei Sun of Xi’An, China and John (Jie) Shi, son of Houru Shi and Chun Xiang Wang of Hohhut, Inner Mongolia, China.

Ren is a 2004 graduate of Zhouzhi High School, Xi’An. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Beijing Diocesan Seminary, Beijing, China in 2009. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in the fall of 2013.

Shi is a 2007 graduate of Chahar Right Front Banner No. 1 Middle School, Ji Ning City, Inner Mongolia. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Beijing Diocesan Seminary in 2010. He began studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in 2013.
