Spring Break

03/04/12, All Day
Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles
"We have had mass in dugouts 90 feet below the level of the ground, where there was hardly room to turn around, in ruined churches, and in the open air," wrote Brother Vincent Thiede, O.S.B., in October of 1918, from France during World War I. "I have seen a great many German prisoners. We get them whenever we can to help us dig graves... I am helping to bury the dead... At first I thought that I could hardly do this kind of work, but I have gotten to like it; God has given me strength for it is a work of charity and very pleasing to him."
